36 Things to Do in Coweta County in August (2026 Guide)

Coweta County Farmers Market in Newnan, Georgia

What are the best things to do in Coweta County in August 2026? August brings Summer NewnaNights to downtown Newnan on the 13th, Senoia Alive After Five on the 21st, Jazz in the Park with Melodie Fort on the 28th, and farmers markets in both Newnan and Senoia every Saturday morning. There are 36 public events across the county this month.

August is the last full month of summer around here, and Coweta County treats it that way. The downtown street festivals are still running, the farmers markets are at peak season, and there’s an outdoor movie and a jazz concert to close things out before the school-year rhythm takes over.

We pulled this list from the city, county, tourism and downtown calendars — five separate sources that don’t talk to each other — and filtered out the board meetings and zoning hearings. What’s left is 36 things you can show up to. Here are the ones worth putting on the calendar.

The best things to do in Coweta County in August 2026

If you only make it to a handful of things this month, make it these five.

  1. Summer NewnaNights — Thursday, August 13, 6–9 p.m., Downtown Newnan. The second-Thursday street event, with music, food and shops open late around the square. This is the one to bring people to if you’re showing off the town.
  2. Senoia Alive After Five — Friday, August 21, Downtown Senoia. Arts, crafts, food and drink with the downtown shops open late. Senoia’s walkable historic district makes this one of the more pleasant evenings in the county.
  3. Jazz in the Park: Melodie Fort — Friday, August 28, 7:30 p.m., Newnan Centre. The next installment of Newnan’s jazz series.
  4. Market Day — Saturday, August 1, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., Downtown Newnan. Main Street Newnan’s first-Saturday market, with vendors set up around the historic square.
  5. Free Outdoor Movie: Rio 2 — Sunday, August 30, 7–10:30 p.m., Drake Field, Peachtree City. Shown on a 36-foot screen starting at dark, with pre-show music. Concessions are available, or bring a picnic.

Worth knowing: August 13 is the last Summer NewnaNights of the season. The series runs on second Thursdays through the summer and doesn’t return until next year.

What’s happening in Senoia and Grantville in August?

The south end of the county has its own rhythm, and it’s worth the drive.

Senoia Raceway runs three nights this month: sprint car racing on Saturday, Aug 8, Crate Racin’ USA 602 & 604 on Saturday, Aug 22 from 5–10 p.m., and Topless Outlaws on Saturday, Aug 29. The track is at 171 Brown Road — check with the raceway for exact race times, since they post those closer to the date.

Beyond the raceway, Senoia has the Saturday farmers market and Alive After Five on the 21st. Grantville gets two market days at The Locals — the 8th and the 28th. And the Newnan-Coweta Historical Center hosts its 3rd Thursday program on Aug 20, 6–8 p.m., part of its 2026 series.

What programs are available for older adults and caregivers?

Coweta County Senior Services runs a full slate that a lot of families don’t know exists — and most of it is free and open to the community. As a Seniors Real Estate Specialist practice, this is the corner of the calendar we point families toward most often.

  • Senior Grief Support Group — Monday, Aug 3, 10:30 a.m., Tommy Thompson Senior Activity Center, Newnan
  • Dementia Caregiver Support Group with Piedmont — Tuesday, Aug 4, 10 a.m.
  • Tech Talk with Chet O. Beasley — Aug 12 in Senoia, Aug 24 in Newnan, both 10 a.m.
  • Hearing Screening — Monday, Aug 17, 10 a.m.
  • Senior Living Health and Wellness Class — Aug 17 in Newnan, Aug 19 in Senoia
  • Adaptive Community Engagement & Sports Pickleball — Aug 11 and Aug 25, 10:30 a.m., Newnan Pickleball Complex

The caregiver support group in particular fills a real gap. If you’re helping a parent through a transition, it’s worth the Tuesday morning.

Where can you see the full August calendar?

We keep a running list of things to do in Coweta County in August — and every other month — on one page: the Coweta County Events Calendar. It has all 36 August events with dates, times and locations, laid out as a month grid plus a day-by-day list — and we refresh it on the 25th of every month with the following month’s events.

If you’d rather track it yourself, the primary sources are Explore Newnan-Coweta, the City of Newnan, Coweta County Government, Main Street Newnan, and the City of Peachtree City. That’s five tabs — which is why we consolidated them.
