Where can you find a farmers market in Coweta County, Georgia? Coweta County has three main options: the Coweta County Farmers Market at the Powell Expo Center in Newnan, the Senoia Farmers’ Market on Travis Street, and Main Street Newnan’s monthly Market Day on the historic courthouse square. Most run Saturday mornings.
There’s a specific kind of Saturday morning here in August. It’s already warm by eight. Somebody’s selling the last of the peaches next to the first of the muscadines, and there’s a line for the biscuit truck. If you’ve lived in Coweta County for a while, you know exactly what I’m describing. If you’ve just moved here, this is the weekend you should go find out.
I get asked about this more than you’d think. When people relocate to Newnan from Atlanta or from out of state, one of the first questions after “where do I buy groceries” is “where’s the good local stuff.” The answer, in Coweta County, is usually a market — and we happen to have several good ones within a short drive of each other.
Here’s a practical rundown of the farmers markets in Coweta County for 2026, what you’ll actually find at each one, and why the strength of a town’s local commerce is something I pay attention to when I’m helping someone choose where to buy.
Where Are the Farmers Markets in Coweta County?
Three markets carry most of the weight, and they’re different enough from each other that it’s worth knowing all three.
Coweta County Farmers Market — Newnan
The county’s namesake market sets up at the Asa M. Powell Sr. Expo Center at 197 Temple Avenue in Newnan, GA 30263. It runs Wednesday and Saturday mornings from roughly June through September — which makes right now the heart of its season.
This is the most straightforwardly agricultural of the three. It’s a Georgia Grown member market, and the emphasis is on produce grown by people who live here. If you want tomatoes, sweet corn, okra, squash, peas, and peaches without a middleman, this is your stop. Come early. Midsummer produce moves fast.
Senoia Farmers’ Market
Down in Senoia, the market sits at 40 Travis Street and runs Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., from spring through Christmas — a much longer season than the Newnan market. The Senoia Downtown Development Authority reopened the 2026 season back in March.
Senoia’s market is broader than produce. You’ll find fruits, herbs, meats, and cut flowers alongside local bakers selling jams, jellies, honey, and donuts, plus artisans working in jewelry, pottery, woodwork, and bath and body products. There’s usually live music, food trucks, coffee, and a bar at Nic & Norman’s. It functions as much like a Saturday morning gathering as a shopping trip.
Main Street Newnan Market Day
This one is monthly rather than weekly: the first Saturday of each month, March through December, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., spread around the courthouse square in downtown Newnan. Main Street Newnan organizes it, and it leans more toward makers, vendors, and downtown retail than pure agriculture.
The advantage is that the square’s permanent shops and restaurants are open at the same time. You can do Market Day and a full afternoon downtown without moving your car. If you haven’t spent much time on the square yet, start with our local’s guide to Downtown Newnan.
What’s Actually in Season Right Now?
August in west Georgia is the overlap month. Summer crops are finishing strong while the first fall items start showing up. Expect to see some version of this at the Coweta County and Senoia markets over the next few weeks:
- Peak now: tomatoes, okra, field peas, butter beans, sweet corn, peppers, eggplant, watermelon, cantaloupe
- Winding down: peaches, blueberries, summer squash
- Starting up: muscadines and scuppernongs, early greens, sweet potatoes, pumpkins by late September
- Year-round from local vendors: honey, eggs, jams and jellies, baked goods, cut flowers
Availability varies week to week depending on weather and what each grower brought. That’s the trade-off with a real market — and honestly, it’s the point.
Why Farmers Markets in Coweta County Matter If You’re Buying a Home Here
This sounds like a stretch until you’ve watched it play out a few dozen times. A town with an active weekend market almost always has a healthy downtown behind it — occupied storefronts, restaurants that stay open past eight, sidewalks that get used.
That matters for two practical reasons. First, walkable commercial districts tend to support property values in the surrounding blocks, because proximity to shops and restaurants is something buyers will pay for. Second — and this is the part people underestimate — it’s how you actually build a life somewhere. Buyers relocating to Coweta County frequently tell me the market was where the place started to feel like home rather than a set of coordinates.
Newnan and Senoia both have this. So, in a smaller way, do Grantville and Moreland. If you’re comparing towns and you can’t decide, go to a Saturday market in each one and pay attention to how busy it is.
How to Make the Most of Market Season
- Go early. The best produce is gone by mid-morning at the Newnan market, particularly on Saturdays.
- Bring cash and small bills. Most vendors take cards now, but not all, and change gets scarce late in the morning.
- Bring your own bags. Reusable totes, and a cooler in the car if you’re buying meat or dairy in August heat.
- Talk to the growers. Ask what’s best that week. They will tell you honestly, and they’ll usually tell you how to cook it.
- Stack your Saturday. Hit Senoia’s market at 8:30, then head up to downtown Newnan. It’s about a 20-minute drive.

Frequently Asked Questions
What day is the farmers market in Newnan, GA?
The Coweta County Farmers Market at the Powell Expo Center on Temple Avenue operates Wednesday and Saturday mornings, generally June through September. Main Street Newnan’s Market Day is separate and runs the first Saturday of each month, March through December, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the courthouse square.
Is the Senoia Farmers’ Market open year-round?
Not quite year-round, but close. The Senoia Farmers’ Market opened its 2026 season in late March and runs Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. through Christmas. That gives it one of the longest seasons of any market in Coweta County.
Are there farmers markets near Sharpsburg or Peachtree City?
There is no dedicated market in Sharpsburg, but it sits almost exactly between the Newnan and Senoia markets — both are a short drive. Peachtree City in neighboring Fayette County has its own market as well, so residents on the eastern side of Coweta County have several options within about 20 minutes.
Do I need to bring cash to a Coweta County farmers market?
Bring some. Many vendors now accept cards and mobile payment, but it varies by booth and by market, and small bills make things faster for everyone. Plan on cash as the default and treat card acceptance as a bonus.
Thinking About a Move to Coweta County?
Knowing where the good tomatoes are is a small thing. But it’s the kind of small thing that adds up to knowing a place — and knowing this place well is the whole job for us.
